Tibetan Horseman’s Portable Porridge

Saturday  flying Guangzhou to Xining to begin a Tibetan poridge Odysey to Amnye Machen one of four holy Mountains of Tibet.  The picture below is of a horseman preparing porridge  from the leather tsampa bag  – dried and pounded barley mixed with yaks butter and tea – on Gongga Shan , another Holy mountain  near Kanding from two years ago. I am imagining a similar diet  on this pilgrimage with the possible addition of peanut butter damper and cans of sardines, and maybe even a cup of cocoa from time to time, and medicinal Tibetan Brandy.
